There are three primary methods; manually pointed portable dish, roof-mounted crank-up, or fully automatic roof-mounted dish. Automatic dishes come in two flavors, Automatic once you are parked and always-on in-motion systems that track the satellite going down the road. The most common method (least expensive) is to use some kind of portable stand, like a tripod, and manually point the dish at the satellite. The most convenient method is to purchase a fully automatic dish that is installed on the RV roof and automatically rises and points to the satellite or folds down at the press of a button.
