Hot Water Heater Greg 9-4-07
I have been working on my water heater for a week. I have a 1987 31' Fleetwood Bounder with a Atwood water heater. I can get the propane to the heater and lit but as soon as I turn the knob from pilot to auto the flame goes out. In addition, when the flame is lit, while holding the pilot knob the entire time, it is not strong. Can someone please assist me in getting this to work.

PS. The heater is fairly new.

Greg
Re: Hot Water Heater wrench 9-8-07
Chance are the capilary tube is burned(small copper tube which goes from the valve(small screw) to the flame pit. That is what hold the valve open after warm up. You're not going to have a heating flame while on pilot status.
Get a capilary tube, make sure you get one from a RV place(the threads are different with the one for other application) After the pilot stay on, it will switch to heating flame,(safety feature).
good luck wrench
