I have a 1973 Dodge Superior motorhome with a dodge 440 motor. I have a couple of questions, I am hoping someone with one can help me with.
First, this motorhome only has a black water tank. I would like to install a gray water tank in it, but would like some tips from someone who has done it on this type motorhome or chassis.
Second, I have a gear vendors unit installed on this. Does anyone else have one. is it pretty maintenance-free. how does it do?
Third, this motor is having some issues. we are preparing to take it apart and do some work on it. has anyone tried an MSD ignition advance to get better mileage? What is the average mileage for a beast like this?
Fourth, Painting. The body is galvanized and the paint is bubbling off of it. What kind of prep do I need?
You do have a separate graywater system and it should be no great problem to rout it to a separate tank - though space for such may be limited.
I don't know what a "gear vendor's unit" is, but would love to have an overdrive or switchable rear end for mine. Let me know what you come up with. My mileage '75 2000/440 is about 6mpg.
Body prep I do know. Have unit professionally pressure washed to remove all loose paint. Prep bare galvenized metal by wiping with vinegar, then rinse and prime.
