Blue book value April 4-2-07
I would like to know the blue book value of a travel trailer we are going to buy. It is a 1977 Shasta 26FT. A-1 shape except for the interior seating is a little rough. 37,000 miles. Mechanically sound. It has a chevy 350 engine.
Re: blue book value Bob Geer 4-25-08
There is no blue book price that far back on a 1977 unit. The price is based on condition and what ever you think its worth. Shasta was manufactured by Coachman Ind out of Indiana. They stopped making them some time ago. One thing to look out for is rotten wood under the frame on a Shasta RV. The Unit is constructed of 1/8in panel (inside) 3/4 inch styrofoam and then 1/8 Lauan plywood on the outside with the fiberglass or alummin skin attached to that plywood. Then its attached to the frame. The wood rots out and then the unit will sag or droop. This is a common problem with Shasta units. I know I own one now and had several in the past. I am currently redoing totally the body of a 1988 34 foot Class A Shasta RV Mh. Its a lot of work but a lot of fun for me to do also. Good luck on the 77 unit.
