My wife was wondering about the effectiveness of the Convection oven/Microwave vs the regular oven. We have a 93 Bounder 31K and are noticing that the new rigs usually don't have a regular oven. She likes the old way but wants to know if the new style convection unit will handle biscuits like a regular oven.
I made the same mistake of buying an RV with an Apollo appliance. Warranty repairs have been attempted four times, but failed to fix it's problem of shutting down part way through the microwave cycle. Then they replaced the microwave. It didn't help. It has the same problems even when it's removed and plugged in to a 6600 watt generator using 10 gauge wiring, only ten feet long. Now, it won't work on convection, either. Don't waste your money on Apollo appliances!
I made the mistake of buying a new trailer with the Convection oven/microwave!
Yes, you can bake in it.
Problem is, you have to ait till it cools down before you can use it as a microwave.
Also, you have no broiler and if you are use to an oven as I am, stick with the oven and microwave seperate.
Don't listen to the Salesman!
On the contrary, I love my convection/microwave oven and have yet to use my regular oven. Although I wouldn't order a unit without it. Since the oven is propane and the microwave is electric and if you boondock you need the gas. I have made meringue pie and it browns beautifully. I make brownies all the time. Casseroles are a since. I make a German apple pancake and it comes out great. When you have full hookups- it beats using the oven. Mine is an Apollo Half Time Covection/Microwave. It just takes a little trial and error to use.
What are the advantages & disadvantages of a regular mocrowave oven vs a convection microwave oven?
Don't all Mocrowave ovens work on a convection principle?
