Trying to buy a 1989 malibu cobra, have a few questions. mike 1-21-06
We've been camping for a few years now. Last year we graduated from a tent to a pop up. I liked the comfort the pop-up provided but I hated towing the thing, and hated the hassle of setting up when getting to the campground late. We are trying to buy a 1989 malibu cobra motorhome. It's in fair to good condition (not sure of how many miles are on it) I'm wondering if the $7,000 it's going to cost is a good deal, and what kind of gas milage this beast will get. I believe it's 30 feet and has a ford 460 motor in it?

Kind of funny, we were worried about the pop-up ruining the camping experience, and now were trying to buy a "rolling house" I guess comfort comes first huh?

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

No idea if $7000 is a fair price. Fuel mileage will run between 6.5 to 7.5 MPG average.

NADA for a 1990 with standard Equipment and about 60k miles lists between $8700 & $10,000.00. Please be advised this is an Orpan(line is no longer manufactured after 1992).

Mike. i bought a 89 malibu, cobra 36 and a half ft. motorhome 4 yrs ago. had 69000 miles.is in excellent shape.full back bedroom, full bath and shower combination. excellent interior. eveything works great. i put a 17 in flat panel tv in the back bedroom, installed a 24 in., tv up front and has a steerright system on the front axel.also a color back up camera w/screen. it drives like a caddalac even when simis pass me on each side at the same time. i looked for a long time before i purchased a used rig. ive been on the road and living in my motorhome for over three yrs and loveit. this is a heavy duty rig. the chassis was made by oshcos industries. the body was made by american van industries.a large simi truck company now owns all parts rights for this rig and has everything you might want to buy for the unit. if u have any questions, e-mail me.

Terry,
Could you email me please!! We have a Malibu SS model. It's 38 feet long. We do not have an owners manual for it and really need one. Also, where is American Van Industries located?
Thanks!!
Lyle

Terry, I own a 1990 malibu cobra.. have had it for three years now. I thought they were built on ford chassis. Do you have any more info on them?
