I have a 99' 39Z Bounder with the same engine & transmission. There is a recall on the steering hose location. (Minor deal) The intercooler gets dirty on the outside due to the oil vapors from the road draft tube being sucked up by the fan. There is a fix for this.
Check the radiator coolant. Should NOT be the pink lifetime stuff. Causes problems with the silicon gaskets in the Cummins engine.
I would take it to a Cummins shop and have the codes read out from the computer.
Good engine & chassis. There is a 3 year warranty on the chassis and 100,000 miles on the engine. Freightliner has removed the deductable on all chassis under warranty. (3 years)
