|Re: Class a diesel by ForetravelRon|
Boy, what a loaded question(s). Asking what make of motor home to buy is sort of like asking "What kind of car should I buy?" I would think that you should narrow your search by deciding how much you would like to spend. There are good coaches in all price ranges. As you can see by my signature, I own a Foretravel which in my opinion is one of the best built motor homes on the road. I do not have any slide-outs and we have plenty of room. We spend about 6 months on the road each year. Before you buy any unit with slides, make sure you see it and walk through it with the slides closed. Believe it or not you will run into situations where you cannot extend your slides.
You will most assuredly receive the most value if you buy a fairly new, used unit. Deisel engines will probably never wear out in motor home applications, if properly maintained.
Your best bargains in a used motor home will be in units that do not have slides.
I would suggest that after you narrow your search that you look at the Yahoo discussion group for that type of motor home. You will find a wealth of information and can read comments from owners regarding problems and operational tips.
I hope this has been of some help to you in making your big decision.
Good luck in your purchase.
