Post New Message I believe you hint at the answer: Your Barth probably was not shiny to begin with.

It may be like some Airstreams which came in either a polished or matte-like finish...if the latter, you could not get it to look like a shiny version no matter how much you polished it...the metals were surface-treated differently at the factory depending on which finish was chosen for that particular coach. Perhaps Barth offered similar finish choices.

In short, your Barth originally may have been given a "matte" finish.
