LeSharo Engine help by Bryan Semones
Post New Message Im living in and composing this from an 84 LeSharo with a chewed up Rod Berring. its on the piston rod closest to the crank pully...is this comon of these? Is there a comon cause?... (i dont have a manual) I was able to get the berring pieces out and by the looks of the interior of the case the damage occured at a low temp and or RPM as there are no signs of molten metal welded to the case walls..I bought it with a siezed motor. I think i am safe to turn the crank and install a new set of rod berrings but the damaged rod will either have to be replaced and filed to the same weight as the rest of the rods or the whole thing ground to 10-over and the difference in the repaired rod added to the grind on the crank and then the other rods balanced to the repaired rods weight?? Should i replace all the rods? Is there some standard here where i can use rods and berrings from some other engine make?? lil help? If i put this back together wrong im gonna have to replace the motor =(
