Re: motorhome chassis' by Dick Koska

Chassis - Ford 6.8L Super-Duty V1 0 SOHC Triton engine, 310-hp, 4R100 electronic 4-speed overdrive transmission, 130-amp.alternator, 4-whee! anti-lock brakes

The Ford has the 20,500 lb/standard and the 22000 lb/optional
Both come with 19.5 wheels

Chassis - Workhorse 8.1L VortecV8, 340-hp, Allison" 1000 5-speed electronic overdrive transmission 145 -amp. alternator, 4-whee! anti-lock brakes

The Workhorse has the 20,700 lb/ with 19.5 wheels and the 22000 lb/ with 22.5 wheels

If you are looking at a motor home with a dry weight of 17000 or more, I would say that you will not be happy with any thing less than the W22 with 22.5 wheels benefits would be power, ride, handling and better equipped to handle the weight.
If you chose a smaller motor home you may want to consider the Ford chassis

Hope this helps
