Hi Diane.
I found the same problem.
The connections on the wiper"module" (hope this is the correct spelling) are or were nonshielded, meaning, the power leads are touching the ground and or power leads. This is located to the left of the stearing colemn just under the dash. Sometimes a dumbass will secure the wires to close to the module creating preasure on the connections pulling them together creating a short in the circuit.
Easy fix. locate the module, seperate the the leads using electrical tape. If you want a permanent fix, use shielded connections. this will fix the problem
