I had the same problem. Shortly after I got my 88 E-350 MH home it would not start. Internet research pointed to the Idel Control Valve. That was the problem. I replaced it and the problem has not returned. A short time later, it came up with your same problem, it would run for a short time and quit.The web site pointed at the EGR being stuck open. It was and I replaced it. Neither problem has returned, it runs great.
