I have a 2000 Ford Ranger which i have had zero problems with. Out of nowhere the ABS light came on and blinks 16 times now. After driving it about 10 miles the check engine light came on. Then i noticed that my speedometer was not functioning, neither was the radio, the blinkers or the milage meter. I checked the fuses and there's nothing wrong with them. Im not sure whats wrong but any help will help.
Justin your problem is the same as mine.
I would change your ABS sensor which should be located on top of your rear differential. Also look under your vehicle on the drivers side you should see an eletrical plug with small bolt going through it. Unscrew bolt and disconect plug if water comes out that probably is what shorted your ABS sensor which also controls the speedometer. I fixed mine to were the engine light is out and speedometer works but when you put the directional on it will flutter. The ABS light is still on. I noticed alot of people with Ford Rangers have this problem. Some are lucky just changing the ABS sensor or speedsensor. LOL (Lisa)
I have almost the same problem, but my abs light just stays on. then one more light turns on and my speed tach doesn't start to work til about 40. i need to find a place that will do a scan on it. who does scans on abs lights? i know auto zone does the motor ones.
Thanks everyone on this site. This fixed my problem and you may not need a new sensor.

I hosed out my truck and it caused the ABS light to come on. This fixed it!!
