I have a 1994 Bounder with a 454 TBI engine. Everything on this is new....engine, re-cored radiator, TBI unit, fule pump in tank, manifolds...etc, but still the dash temp gauge says it is running hot, even under normal load conditions, but it does not boild over and the coolant fluctuates in the bottle as you would expect.
I am beginning to think the dash gauge is faulty...where on the engine can I hook up a good old fashioned analog gauge to test??
Hello Dave;
several things, I hope you have "NOT" bypassed the heater core--water must flow.and yes it's possibe that the sensors are bad or the guage just isn't responding ---any bad ground---white wire---will give you false reading-are you sure the timing is correct as well.
use # 5 and the bottom reading.

Rich is the heater core by-pass that H looking set of tubes in the heater hoses a foot or to before you get to the heater core? I say it in a shot on one for sell on E-Bay because I was trying to determine if it was factory or I was going to leave it out when i put in the new heater hoses.
If it's a P32 chassis try an aftermarket temp gauge and sender BEFORE spending a lot of bucks on other things. My 96 did the same thing on the instrument panel but, the aftermarket gauge is rock solid.
