Help my motor home would accelerate pretty good but it would get to a point and just go flat and the motor would race but not go any faster. so the other day I adjusted the distributor while I was driving it seems to run good now. how do I know if has to much time????? THANKS DZ
Hi Dave
set the timing while sitting still -disconnect the vacuum advance --plug the line, and use # 5 plug wire--so you can see the bottom setting-and use what ever the setting is supposed to be-
adjusting while driving ---is very dangerous--and you will probably blow the engine up---if you advance it past where it should actually be--for every "degree " you have it off---the cylinder temp increases 80 Degree you can burn a hole in a piston--
your choice
rich.
Thank you a while ago I had a fleet michanic (of 25 years)come by the house and he adjusted the motor it was boging he set the timing same way. he said on the older pre-EFI this is the way he does it. the engine ran a little better but not up hill now it goes up hill real good and does not seem to get any hotter I checked while driving.
