Motor home with 454, oil pressure runs at about 40psi at cruise but goes right off the scale 80psi+ then back down, is this blocked bypass or bad sender unit?. Any feed back would be great, thanks.

My dad has a boat with a 4.3 liter chev.the oil pressure runs about 40 psi at idle and jumps up to about 60psi with increased rpm he seems to think yhis id to high. what sould it be thanks.
