Not sure if your 88 would have the delay valve,but it has a couple of vacuum hoses hooked to it and screws in to the intake manafold near the water intake.I think mine may have 3 hoses to it.I Think for a test you could just by pass it.Not sure what vacuum would be but it will drop when engine sees a load and allows the vacuum advance to move up the timing.Is the idle rough it may have vacuum leak.Have you checked compression yet.?? Just sounds like running a bit lean.If you can't find anything wrong I would at least do a compression test just to rule out any other problems. Good Luck MIKE |
