Bought used 1992 Bounder w/454 Chevy engine. Had been sitting up, but engine had been run regularly, just not driven. Ran OK for most of trip home (about 65 miles) then backfired and died. No electrical power to starter. Installed new battery & got it home. Now when I drive it, it will only go about 10 mph. Engine doesn't race, just no power. If you put in neutral, engine will race up, just not when in drive/reverse. Someone said it is a bad alternator.

Alternator only charges batteries. check fuel filter along right side frame-looks like beer can-they cost $9.oo or more,be careful NOT to loose little o-rings when you change it---they "don't" come with filter. good luck rich. let us know how it's going.

I have a problem with my catalyst converter, if the catayst would go out what kind of problems would it cause?

Found fuel filter in bad shape. Changed it & air filter. Also, found a wire off on one side of throttle body causing it to dump fuel into only one side of carb. Runs great now, plenty of power. Thanks for the tip. Tommy
