Where does the #1 spark plug go to the distributer cap

Has the dist.been removed?If so remove the #1spark plug.Place your thumb over the plug hole while someone turns the engine with the starter.When you feel pressure pushing your finger away you are on the compression stroke.Look at where the timing mark is,it should be near the line on the timing bracket.Then remove dist.cap and see where the rotor is pointing at #1 terminal.If its not pointing at the #1 plug wire the dist.may have been moved or it has jumped time. Hope this helps find the right terminal. MIKE
