Hi new to sight and RVs. I have an 88 pace arrow it has the 454 carb motor. seems to run ok when cold but when its warm it has a little back fire to it and it hesitates up hill. I had to change the fuel preasure regulator back by the tank because it was leaking fuel when I first got the coach I also did a tune up on it cap, rotor, coil, vacume advance, weights, armachers, plugs wires, fuel filter x2,pcv,crankcase breather,k&n air filter. any help would be great thanks DZ
Just sounds like its a bit on the lean side.May have to check fuel pressure at the carb.Check the specs but it should be around 4.5 lbs.Did the pressure reg. have an adjustment. Also the pump in the tank may be weak or have a pluged sock, screen on the pick up tube.My 86 Itasca uses 89 octane any thing lower pings or misses under load. Also when changing out the Ign. coil make sure the groung clip under the bottom of the coil is under the right screw and grounding the coil properly.Recheck it.It will run but cause problems and start arcing and burn the coil and sometimes the cap.It will run for a while but will soon burn out something. Good Luck Mike
Most of the old P30s have a rear pump some back in 84 or so had a externial rear but 86 and up had in the tank.Easy to test pressure by finding an old vacuum gage for testing autos and they usually have a pressure scale for testing pump pressure. You may be able to test rear pump also at the first filter. It would not need the regulator if it did not have a rear pump. Also will have a relay circuit for the rear pump.If pressure is less than spec for the rear pump check the relay before tearing out the rear pump. Not sure of reg.pressure but I think its about one lb out of the reg.To much pressure may cause problems.Ill look in a manual for that year and see if I can come up with more info.I think you need about 3to 4 lbs pressure near the carb.input. MIKE
I have a (new to me) 1989 sunflyer. the first time out it died on every hill in town. I waited and let it idle and it e\went good for about a half block (until the carb bowl went dry).
I replace the engine fuel pump, carb filter and in-line filter (about half way back with 1/2" line in and out. It seemd fixed for the first 100 miloes then did the same thing. I put an electric in line fuel pump on it and it didn't help. I was 200 miles from home. Finally, I thought about the third line on the fuel pump. It is a return line to the tank. I pinched it off and drove home fine.
I am sure I have a problem with the tank fuel pume, component or filter sock. But, I wanted to say what I did in a pinch.
Hi took motor home to a shop told me I needed to change my carb to a new one ($1200.00) also told me I needed a new EGR valve($250.00)and all new vacume lines($200.00)so I paid $65.00 for the verdict and took it home rebuilt carb $200.00 EGR valve $117.00 vacume lines $20.00 ran a little better still bogs under load changed relay for rear fuel pump it works now got 4.5 lbs at the front fuel pump still bogs any help PLEASE.
Thanks will check the coil ground clip, Also what would be a good way to check preasure at the carb (IE TOOL)and whare do I check it at. I dont belive the rv has a pump in the tank it has a mechanical one at the motor I could be wrong.HELP regulater has adjustment screw on the top do not know what factory setting is. Thanks DZ
