Dwell Meter goes to max reading when hooked up and key turned on. Cam 12-27-06
I have a 1975 3-ton GMC truck that I am trying to start. All the components appear good. However, when I hook up the dwell meter to adjust the points the dwell meter shoots to the maximum reading as soon as the key is turned on or the engine is turned over. When I hook up to another truck there are no problems getting a proper reading.
Thanks,

Cam.

Make sure you are hooking the meter up on the proper side of the coil. Also make sure points are connected up right.Might even have condenser tested for a short.Do you have any spark when points first open? Good Luck
