I was having problems with my 440 Dodge running hot. I could not find the Stant thermostat that was recommended and found out it is no longer made. I did find that Mr. Gasket makes a Hi-Flow stat #4367 that any parts house should be able to get. I also replaced my water pump with a Miledon #Mil-16260 Hi-Flow pump, a reasonble $69 from Summit racing 1-800-230-3030. Replaced the flex fan with a fixed Mopar original fan and now run 180-190 range instead of 220+.
I had the somewhat teh same problem in that my Travie was running over 200F, so I installed a four row radiator core, dumped the flexfan for a stock fan and thermo clutch from Dodge, and found that Discount Auto had a pump with the eight vane pump impeller for $14.95.
It was a lot more vane area than what I removed. Does anyone know if the impellers are the same on the Miledon and the Discount Auto pumps?
The engine is lots coller now, as I have to be going up a long grade to see 200F now, even with a 4,000 lb. toad. |
