I am considering swapping my puny 2.5L 4cyl for a more powerful 2.8L V6. I am swapping it into a lifted 1986 Chevy S10 4x4. I was wondering if the transmission would bolt up or not? I'm new at the whole auto performance thing and I could use some advice. Thanks.
Q. i got a 1992 s10 2.8 5 speed and iv got a 1996 gmc sanoma 4.3 vortec 5 speed and i want to put the 4.3 moter and trens in my 1992 but im woried about what part of the harness im guna nead to make the 4.3 work in my 1992 and still have the gages worg and run properly do u have any ansers or a web site i can go to.
If you are going to do an engine swap dont put a 2.8L in it. I just pulled mine out b/c there is no power or torque. There is barely any difference between the 4cyl and the 2.8...Go with the 4.3L or a SB 350 like i am... You will be much happier...
Stright too the point if u have a 2.2 just put another one back in it and sell buy a 4.3 truck needing a motor and buy mounts out of jegs or summit a 350 will bolt right up same trans wiring harness and radiator just buy a fuelinjected 350 100to600 dollars depending to v 8 a 2.2 would require a wiring harness swap unless ur going crburated not to good for mpg also they sell mount for 2.8 ill know in a few weeks if that harness will plug in like a 4.3 to a 5.7 and run u don't have to swap the computer but your rpms will not be accurate 5.7s go higher and ur shift points are a lil off but a v8 computer can be found in a junck yard in any old chevy fullsize best part of it all a 350 will idle doing 60 sure u might lose a mile or 2 pur gallon but u may not depending. Its well worth it and the lil guy gets out into traffic LOL GOOD LUCK

I am interested in buying the 2.5L 4cyl. motor that you are swaping. Please e-mail me with your location, the milage and condition of the motor, and the price so we can negotiate. Thank you. My e-mail: cchotrod1970442@hotmail.com
I just picked up a '92 S10, ext. cab, 2.8 V6 with 5 SP, with a very good body. I want to go with a bigger and better V6. The 4.3 is certainly a better engine, but I was also told that the 3.1 would work with only slight modifications. The 3.1 is a better and more powerful engine than the 2.8, but I think the 3.1 was used in only front wheel drive vehicles.
I'd appreciate ideas and comments.
I was wondering bout the mounts u are using on your s10 for the small block. i have the 4bager 2.2L and i want to put a nive sb init, but cant find ne mounts..ne help?
