Post New Message If you're pulling a trailer, make sure you have an automatic transmission cooler in addition to the one in the radiatior. Tranny fluid can really heat up the radiator when under a load such as a trailer. I use a B&M Supercooler and most of the guys are using the Hayden cooler. They look alike, just different names. You may also want to invest in a tranny temp gauge. I have one and it doesn't go over 200* .

I just bought a 1988 Chevy 1 ton with a 454 motor and the first time pilling my 27' 5th wheel I had overheating problems.
The new radiator that was put in is only a 2 row


Go with the 3 or 4 row radiator and a new fan clutch. forget the additional fans out front and the fender cuts. The people who build these have better wind tunnels than you do to figure out where the air goes. Make sure the tune on your PU is top notch.
