Prob. Solved: 440 starts/dies=new prob. !! Chuck 8-8-06
On my 440 2 red wires from the ballast resistor connect to 2 other red wires and these all connect to 2 more red wires. Naturally they had come apart.
So I tied all the wires together and it started right up. I was amazed.
The new problem is I made a big error by asking the local shop their opinion.
He thought it was the ignition switch. The mechanic thought since it started in run, the "on" switch was broken. This was not my problem. Anyhow I had to pull the steering wheel off and in the process I pulled the steering rod up about 2 inches. Now it won't go back down. I am certain I can eventually figure this out but perhaps someone has had experience with this. At first I was happy for the professional mechanic advice, now I am kind of irritated !! I told him I have never had a switch go out before. As we all know the big problem with motorhomes is that they have even more wires than cars.
A wiring nightmare !

I tapped the steering rod back down with a 4 pound sledge.
