Replace one Piston Russell 7-1-06
I have Dodge 440-3 engine that I need to replace one piston. Can anyone tell me what would happen if I just replace just one new piston that has different piston length. Here is the old piston spec. 4.319 dia. at skirt, 4.295 Dia. at top of of piston, and 3.563 is top of piston to bottom of skirt. The new one I got from ebay was a match except the length of piston that he has measure to 3.375 from top of piston to bottom of skirt. Can anyone ask me if I can use this or not. I need help on this I JUST wanted to replace just one bad piston and rering all other and put it back in motor. Thanks Russell,

Personally
I would NOT put that piston in your engine..not only will it become the weekest of the other 7,due to it being a shorter throw.the weight difference might become a factor as well-giving you a vibration-which will destroy the bearing & crank.
my opinion
