I have to replace the float on my sending unit and since I have the tank down I would like to be sure that I don't have to pull the tank off a second time. When the float is all the way down the ohm value is 78. When the float is all the way up the ohm value is 2. Am I within spec? If there is no one that has the info at hand perhaps you could point me in the correct direction. A new sending unit with fuel pump is $403.12 so I don't want to replace it if I don't HAVE to.

That value sounds about right.Look at the resistor when you get it out,see if it looks like a small printed circuit in a plastic box.I have them go bad in my 88 f150.I found a couple of pumps at a auto swap meet and reworked the sending unit. My 93 f250 fuel pump took a dump a few years back.It had a separate sending unit that clipped on or bolted on to the pump.Maybe you can rework that type unit to fit on pump.If it has the small pc looking unit I would put a new sending unit on.It is a real piece junk.How many miles on the pump.?You might want to change outthe pump if lots of miles on it.Good Luck and keep us posted.
