I have a 1990 Ford F-350 with the 460 V8. It has very poor power and only sounds good under light throtle. Idle is very low. I just checked the fuel pressure with a cheap fuel pressure gauge and it's only reading 30 PSI. Is this low enough to cause these problems? (The front tank only shows 20 PSI and it will only idle when on that tank. If I step on the gas it just tries to stall.) It also burns a lot of oil. a quart every 80 miles! I bought this truck for cheap in this condition. PLEASE HELP if you can!
I would start by taking a compression test on all 8 cyl.I would then get some specs on the fuel pressure from a manual or calling a ford dealer.Seems like my 88 ford ran a bit more pressure, like somewhere around 40 something. Good luck Mike
