HELP WITH FUEL TANK JOHN 4-12-06
I have 2 fuel tank from my motorhome.the tanks been sitting with gas in them for 10 years. is there anyway to clean them out. or do i need new tanks
Re: HELP WITH FUEL TANK Michael 4-13-06
John, Get your creeper out and slide under the MoHo. Locate each tank and on the bottom should be a drain plug. Get a large container to catch the gas upon draining. After the fuel drains stick your finger in the hole and feel around for sludge. If you feel any, proceed to remove the tanks and have them boiled out. A local radiator shop should be able to do this for you or know someone that does. Upon reinstallation check your fuel lines for a brittle rubber and change the fuel filter (no matter what). After about 3k change the fuel filter again. I did this with a '59 Cadillac that was in storage for 20 years and it worked well for me.
