New to me 85 Itasca w/454. I replaced the waterpump and shortly after developed a small leak at one of the gaskets. Had a mechanic replace the gaskets and pressure test and figured it was fixed professionally. Drove it about 25 miles and a gasket failed again.
Should I wonder about the pump not being square or just keep replacing gaskets? A real pain to do by the way.
83 gmc Allegro 666,000 miles reserected from a field.drove 10,000 miles.Water pump bearing went out in flagstaff.to cold to bother, drove to phoenix.parked at walmart.pulled water pump, only three bolts. 1 bolt snaped had bean replaced like that, by someone, who nows who.at least 10,000 miles back down the road, what to do.walmart was not a comfertible place for me at the time to drill block and tap. drove a few hundred miles with water pump formagasket+gasket and three bolts holding it back together.worked so far.Don't laugh... Thanks for the story. Chevy dealer is trying to put the fear in me that maybe it can't be fixed-gimme a break.
By the way, I'd figure out a way to get off the 666 mileage. A buddy and I were taking our kids cubscout camping last summer. I happened to notice that his odometer was at 66,666.6 when we pulled out. Within 10 minutes we had a flat tire. But get this: Later that night our camp site was hit by the tail end of a tornado that layed a 40 pine tree over our tent-thankfully we were gone by that time.
