I'm just beginning a search for a "good", solid, used Class C motor coach and most of the ads I've seen so far feature the 450 V-10 Ford engine called Triton. I've asked owners to give their experience of average miles per gallon on such a large engine. I wonder how good this engine is? And since I see it in models below 24 feet up to 31.5 feet, I question what size motor home should one NOT get into that might be too heavy for this engine? I want the engine to match the size of the motor home and not be overworked from the "git-go!" Any input will be GREATLY appreciated. Naturally the Ford dealer told me it's a great engine. I would not have expected anything less from him, but he's a salesman for Ford. Duh! What do real mechanics know about this engine and how to measure it against the size of the coach. At this beginning point, we're wide open in our search, from 19.5 to 31.5 feet. We have yet to set foot inside one. But I'm trying to narrow my search and focus on only solid products. I too am curious about this engine. I've had a 32 ft Class A for 12 years running a 454 and now I want to upgrade and the only ones I can find in my price range are V10's. They also sound scary when they wind out. They'll hit 4500 rpm quick...but the seems to be enought power there to get it done. Only tested a couple tho and havn't made up mu mind. I was hopin' more people would've jumped in on this with their own 2 cents worth
