Alternator draining battery?	John	1-30-06
85 Itasca w/ Chevy 454. Battery drains when sitting. Pulled all the fuses, still showing drain until I pulled the top wires on the altenator-no drain. Alt tested good at parts store. Any clues? Thanks. JB

Do this, buy a 12 volt test light, remove ground cable from battery, remove large output wire from alternator and secure wire away from ground, reconnect battery ground cable, put test light between the alternator output wire and the connector you took it off of, if test light comes on brightly, then you have bad diode (s) in alternator, replace alternator..
