High Rev when switching to Drive gears Evert 1-6-06  
When I switch from park to drive the engine revs up like mad and the vehicle takes off like mad...I have to stomp on the brakes and hold. the crying noise of the engine fan can be heard scratching the shroud for about ten long seconds or more...What in the world is going on???

By the way...this is a 1973 Sportsman with a V8 360 engine with an original Holley Carburetor...Thanks

Hi, I'm not familiar with your unit, but a friend says to check the throttle linkage. He says on some years the shift and throttles cross each other and can bind and pull on some of these units. rich
