1995 Flair Ford 460 Fred 8-15-05
I have a 1995 Fleetwood Flair 30H and recently took it to Colorado from WA
and ran into a problem. As I was slowing down to get off an exit rest stop, the RV started sputtering and hesitating and finally quit. After resting and cooling a bit, she started up and we were to leave and it was spitting and sputtering, when I gave it gas it wanted to quit but as I let up on the gas pedal, the enging went to normal. We finally got up to speed and she ran like a champ. This happened till we got to CO and found a mechanic who sait the exhaust manifold gaskets needed replacement. This was done and seems that the problem came back. Any ideas? We've gotten advice stating could be vapor lock, fuel filter etc....
Thanks for all your help....
Fred

I had a very similiar problem with my 1996 F250 W/Bigfoot camper. I stopped in Billings MT. The mechanic told me it was the mass air flow sensor. We cleaned it and it seemed to help for about 150 miles then it started again. I would appreciate any information you find out.

Thanks

Hi,

Well after everything was said and done, I had to have my exhaust manifolds redone, taking out the gaskets. Apparently 460's need to be metal to metal. Then they found a cracked head and I had to have that replaced also..I guess the heat generated by these 460's is pretty high. I've found out that reapairs are not cheap either! The rig seems to be running really well now and the mechanic assured me that I wont have this problem again. Yes, my fingers are crossed!!
