My 89 motorhome with a 454 has one exhaust manifold that gets pretty hot. It turns cherry red while driving and cools down when idling. The truck runs like a clock and has plenty of power. I replaced the wires as there were lots of sparks visible and repaired at least 10 vacuum leaks. Any ideas?
Is it the side with the heat riser in the pipe just below the manifold? Those risers, even if they move free, many times warp inside the pipe. With just a little exhust held back the heat builds up real fast with those big blocks. rich
I have the same problem with my 87 bounder motorhome. The driverside exhaust manifold turns cherry red even at idle,it only takes 5 to 10 min. and they are red. any input would be great. thanks, Harold
