Ford 460 Carb Problem Lee Miller 3-10-05
I have a 26' motor home Ford 460 bought last year. we had an complete tune up and everything gone through. It is running rich, smelling strong and it backfires when you turn it off. Any suggestions as to why and what can I do before our next adventure? Thanks, Lee

Is your motor home new? What Manufacturer? We are looking at buying one in the next couple of weeks. We have been wondering about the motors? How many miles are on yours?

I have a 94 winnebago brave motorhome with Ford 460 engine -- will not start - have new batteries - makes no sound when you turn the key -

Any ideas?

Technician says he needs to know what feeds the ignition ?

I have had the same problem 2 times now. You probably smell alot of gass, and it is hard to start after sitting a few days?? It is your accelerator pump on the bottom of the front of your Carb. Easy to fix. Should take you about an hour or two your first time. What is happening is your carb is leaking on to your intake manifold. Those seals are known to blow out when they get old.
