I just bought a 1997 honda prelude, and I've noticed that after I drive it for at least 15min when I park it, the engine makes noises for about a minute, 'settling down' as they say.Is this normal for a 97 car? or any car? I hear other engines making crackling noises as well, my old 88 prelude's fan used to go off for about 2 min. but I would have assumed that 1 1997 engine with 67k miles wouldn't. From what I know, the engine gets hot so it expands, then when you turn it off it contracts, resulting in crackling noises and 'settling.'

It's Normal. most of the noise you hear are the Exhaust Manifold Shields and such, cooling down.
