My motorhome used to start by just turning the key on. But, in the last year or so I have to pump the pedal and then it takes a while to start. Now, it starts runs about 10 secs. and quits. I have changed the fuel filter on the chassis and the one on the engine but, it didn't help
I had a 1984 Mobil Traveler with a ford 460 Eng Had a similar problem.
Do you have dual tanks with switchover relays and switches if so my problem was a relay which caused the dual fuel valve to stop getting gas from either tank and the eng would stall out.
In my case my motorhome would cut out anytime from starting to driveing down the road intremittent.

If yours is carb equipped such as mine, you want to look at the choke adjustment. When cold, push the pedal once to floor, remove air cleaner cover and check choke flap.Should have good spring tension and be closed all the way.If not then you have found 1 problem to correct. Also if completely closed start engine and choke flap should not open more then an 1/8 inch for about 1 minute. This problem does sound choke related if you are carbed ?
good luck Steve
If you have dual tanks you may have a low pressure as well as a high pessure fuel pump. the low switches the fuel valve to determine which tank it is pumping from. The low pressure pump or fuel valve may be the issue. You will have pressure on the rail assy becase the high is still working. just not enough fuel to run
I have the same problem with my 1985 and will try these fixes. But first, a more pressing problem: the dipstick tube came out of the engine and I can't fathom where to stick it back in. Anyone help?
