Re: Newmar Dutchstar (gas) loss of power by Lorin
Post New Message Ford had a lot of trouble with EGR valves these years. Your heavy-duty chassis may not have an EGR valve, but if it does try pulling the vacuum hose to disable the valve. Block off the vacuum hose (golf tees work great). If the problem goes away you've found your problem. They also had big problems with IAC (Idle Air Control) valves. Disassemble the valve and give it a good cleaning with auto choke cleaner and a stiff brush. After cleaning it will take a few miles of driving for the computer to re-learn correct idle. Strange that there are no codes even though the check engine light has illuminated. Pre OBD-II Ford computers do some strange things. California Air Resources Board had to threaten Ford to get them to change their programming.
