RV tech? General question regarding motorhome repair Seth R 3-16-17
To all you RV technicians, I was wondering something...

I'm now looking for a Class A motorhome, with slides, and I consistently see the RV dealer mechanic's bays overflowing with Class A's. I understand it is an open question, but, since no one is going to be checking for accuracy here, what is the most common thing a Class A need work on? What do you see the most?

I'll give you an example of what I'm looking for: My friend is a Fedex mechanic, and he says that the most common thing he sees is transmissions, then brakes. Makes sense, right? Stopping, starting, slamming the gear into park while moving, setting the gear to park on a hill, but not using the emergency brake, so all the stress is on the transmission, etc.

So, for motorhomes, specifically Class A's, what is the most common issues? Perhaps you can list three, with one being the most seen.

Appreciate your time...

Seth

I think you misunderstand the issue:

There is an old saying about boats: Boats are a hole in the water you pour money into.

RV's are exactly the same without the hole in the water.

An average RV user with a class A will have several minor plumbing and appliance repairs an inept home handyman will have no trouble with.

Chassis trouble is driven by mileage and maintenance. If you maintain it well you will have little trouble regardless of mileage.

There is no most common Failure that can be applied generally, chassis have troubles based on make and model, House stuff has trouble based on the components.

Good Luck

Can you help with gas gauge not working on a 1990 Ford Kountry Star Class A 27.5 ft. motorhome?
