|Chevy 454 Engine light goes on and trans goes into limp home mode||Ken||10-15-15|
|1993 Winn Brave with Chevy 454 - Was running good untill check engine light began to intermittently come on and trans goes into emergency mode. Mechanic tried to read codes but discovered that the computer is not connected to the OBD 12 pin box. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel reg diaphragm. Anyone have similar issues|

|1st Your GM is pre-OBDII so the trans computer may have its own conector but more likely is that the mechanic did not have the correct old to anceint diagnostic tools, and yes this era of GM computer controls was a hodge-podge mess.|
2nd A Total Guess, Sounds like a Speed sensor comes and goes. There is likely a "DRAK" (I hope I spelled that correct) that takes the raw speed sensor data and splits and translates the data into what the engine, Trans and speedo require. On some GM product all three components need a diferent type of signal. They are very rarely a problem but it complicates diagnoses.
Anyway I digress, Your unit needs to go to a shop with the correct Knowledge and old computer equipment be diagnosed. Your mechanisc isn't the guy you need.
