1996 National Dolphin on Ford 460 James 6-20-15  
When i accelerate or climb hills or pass the AC quits blowing totally

local RV mechanic says its normal, get used to it... they all do it. is this true?

Sort of.

You have a leaky actuator, line or "T" fitting for the dampers inside the heater AC box or a bad vacume check valve for the same system

Common problem, finding and repairing a sever pain, and expensive. Commonly takes years to get bad enough it really has to be repaired.

Live with it if you can.
