Sudden increase in RPM's Judy 7-27-14
We have a 1996 Rexhall Arebus, it is on a GM P30 Chassis with a 454 engine, this is our second Rexhall, the first had a Ford engine, both did this same thing. At cruising speed, no matter the temp outside or anything else it just periodically revs up to a higher RPM for 60 seconds or more and then quiets back down. It is extremely loud, you can't hear or talk. There is no decrease in gas mileage or power. Can someone explain why this happens? Thank you so much.
Re: Sudden increase in RPM's BUBBA THE BUS TECH 7-28-14
2 things may be happening:

1st the cooling fan may be cutting in
2nd the Tourque Converter may be "Unlocking" due to a minor slope increase on the road.

Both 100% normal

Good Luck
