1995 Bounder w/454 Chevy engine Jane 7-19-02
I am interested in a 1995 Bounder (34') with a 454 chevy engine and chevy chassis with 24,000 miles. The vehicle has been sitting in an out of the way camper place for over a year and it hasn't sold. The vehicle looks and runs fantastic. I am concerned that there is a known problem with these vehicles that I don't know about. It has 2 TV's, back up camera, 24,000 miles, stabilizer, automatic jacks, awnings on all windows, 2 a/c units, 2 furnaces, and one owner. The owners just lowered the price to $25,000.00. Anyone with any information of this make/model, I would truly appreciate hearing about it.

I bought an 1988 31' Winnebago Superchief, chevy 454 3yrs ago with 52,000 miles for $19,000. Your Bounder is very similar to mine, with similar annual mileage. Mine did not have leveling jacks ($1,500 add) or backup camera (approx $1,000) nor window awnings. You say 7 years by one-owner?
I think 25k is a good price by my experience. How about having a mechanic
give the rig a test drive and look at both engine and transmission for your peace of mind. I dont' think that you will find any hidden problems...24k is not excessive mileage.

I have noticed a large amount Bounder motorhomes for sale recently. I have one customer that is selling his 1995 Bounder for less than the one you are interested in. He just wasn't happy with it. He said nothing specific, just he didn't like it. I know that is not much to go on, but it seems they sell very inexpensively. There are a lot of them on the road, but maybe there is something with the ones in that year era. Good luck.

Not a bad price, it is the lower end of the fleetwood company, but fleetwood is a good company
Check tires, that size should have 8s19.5 if 16.5 mileage will be down and not as stable
I have had good luck with the Chevy chassis in all 3 of my MHs, had one Ford and dumped it in 4mo. I have had no trouble getting help with either Fleetwood or Winnebago online or by phone for help. Thor industries sucked
Check beds..put dinning table down see if you can stretch out or fit, lay on couch see if it is long enough. A lot of the lower ends shorten dinnet and couch to make it look bigger, but sacrefice comfort.

Thank you for all of your replies. They were greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, after I finally did my research, I test drove the RV and pulled some really good hills and tried everything in the RV. Everything seemed to be perfect. I went back to my business and put my class C up for sale and someone offered to buy the Bounder right then and there. Who would figure, after sitting 1 1/2 to 2 years it sold like that. The gentlemen that bought are going to remove some of the seats and install dog kennels. I think I may throw up. On top of that, the RV place that had this on consignment, said I could have probably gotten it for $15,000, the owners just wanted to get rid of it. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!! Live and learn

I suspect the unit you're looking at does not have a slide and is not a wide body. A lot of folks want both, and that may be a big reason it has not sold. If the unit fits your needs, then you might want to make an offer. The price sounds high. One way to find out is to see what a bank or credit union will loan you for the unit. Or, make a low offer and walk and see what happens. Typical 454 problems include cracked engine manifolds. It's not a reason not to buy, just be aware that is a continuing and annoying problem with that engine. There are many happy Bounder owners out there.

I bought a 1987 Pace Arrow two years ago on a P-30 chassis with 454 engine. It had 59,000 on it. We had a few problems but each one was able to be fixed. You need to expect things to start wearing out and breaking after a few years. We are very happy with ours. And it didn't cost a fortune, so I don't mind spending a few bucks on repairs as they come up. Actually most of the small items I have been able to take care of myself.
