1980 Honey RV Dodge 440 Jon 3-31-14
I have a 1980 Honey RV with a Dodge 440 engine.
Is there some type of fuel filter inside the gas tank? I have changed the inline fuel filter (under the passenger side of the cab) but, when driving, it seems as if it is running out of gas.
Thank you.

There is a filter in the tank, it is commonly known as a "Pick Up Sock"

On older vehicles with steel fuel tanks they plug off with rust flakes.

Drop the tank. Pull the fuel sender and pick up tube assembly. Look inside.

If the tank is solid enough a Company called "POR-15" (I think) has a tank treatment and coating that will fix you up.

If there is a "pick up sock", I think it may be plugged with old, bad gas that contains ethanol. I have heard that such gas goes bad quickly and I rarely drive the RV.

I think that the gas tank is plastic - would it still have a fuel filter in the gas tank?
Thank you very much for your answer to my first question.
