P30 7.4 chevrolet jeff gawley england 10-19-12  
Hi i am going to fit new exaust gasgets too my RV p30 chassis first what is the correct spanner size. ?? also should i fit the new gaskets dry or with some compound sealer ??the engine is 7.4 i have the new factory gasgets. should the engine be warm or cold. jeff gawley

Usually 9/16 or 15 mm depending on pre or post metric.

There is no way in heck you are going to do this on a warm engine. Its going to take several hours.

The exsauhst manifolds will be warped, every single time. You might get lucky and get them to seal, but I doubt it. take them off and machine them. HINT: I use a large wood working bed type belt sander to true them up well enough to seal, works great costs 1 X $8 belt per manifold and about 1/2 hour per.

Fianaly gaskets go on dry unlessyou are using spiffy aftermarket gaskets, then follow the included directions.

Hi bubba. thanks for the info.i have renewed the manifold gaskets. all went well. sounds real good now.

Hi bubba. i told you i replaced my manifold gasket. runs and sounds much better BUT after its been running for some time the temperature rises very high. so i stopped the engine. ?? i removed the radiator cap and water came out very fast. ??? can you tell me what is wrong. do i need new head gaskets also ??? jeff
