|Ford F250 460 engine problems||Don||11-11-11|
|1994 f250 460. the engine runs rough and rich at idle. when driving at hiway speeds, the engine stumbles and misses, but when you mash the gas it smooths out and has good power. I have replaced everthing that makes a spark. comp test 150 all. the valve springs all seem ok and cam lift seems ok. o2 sensor has been replaced and the cat is good. vacuum check,steady needle, within speck..|

|Have you tried running some injector cleaner? Also, even though your vacuum is reading steady there could still be a leak that will cause a lean condition. What are your vacuum readings at idle in Park? Should read at least 20 inches. Does that engine have a Mass Air Flow sensor and has it been cleaned lately? |

|NOW OVER ONE YEAR AND 5000 MILES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. I am confident the following solve the earlier 460 stalling, stuttering, lack of power issues. These engines were made pre ethanol and were intended to run off of 100% gasoline. I have listed the following that has worked for me.|
1. Stay away from Interstate truck stops for fuel.
2.I use the following fuels ONLY and in order of my experience with performance:
a.BP High Test. Preferred
b.High test Shell, Phillips 66, Sunoco
c.EVERY tank use SEAFOAM = TO # GALLONS FILLED, 1 bottle red label ISO HEET. THIS IS CHEAPER THAN ROAD SERVICE
I ALSO DID THE FOLLOWING MECHANICALS,
New better aftermarket in tank fuel pump and filter.
New ECM and Coil.
Wrapped the fuel line and fuel rail with insulation foil.
Installed an in line cooler (small transmission type) in the return line to the tank.
Banks cold air intake.
