1978 dodge rv issues Jeremiah 6-23-11
I purchased a 1978 Dodge sportsman 16' rv with the 440. I have rebuilt the carb, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pick-up coil, coil, pcv valve, starter, Balist resisters, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel sending unit and new push rods. It would start when it was cold and run until it was warmed up the min you step on the accelerator and let off it dies.
I tried to retime 3 times last night and nothing. It has gas, and spark & 60 psi oil pressure. I am lost please help

Is the choke comming off? (opening?)
Common problem with Dodge
IS the cross over plugged? Again common problem. Remove the choke spring/bi-metal strip assembly and you should be able to see inside the exsaust passage thyough the intake if it is plugged you will need to remove the intake and rod this whole passage out through the heads and the intake.
This pluggs quick if the heat riser does not work correct in the exsaust manifold. Check to see that itis free and the spring is in good condition.
Good Luck

I have a 1977 Dodge Diplomat II 28' motorhome with a 440 engine. I need to re-build the carb but would like to know if there's any other items I should get to complete the work. I can run the engine but it won't stay running. Also, do I have a four-barrel?
