454 Problems - 460 Problems Panamint Paul 1-21-02
I am considering buying a 1985-1993
Class A with either the Ford or the
Chev running gear. What kind of probs
can I expect with each. Any recommendations
on which will give better service?

You should stick with the latest modle you can or at least one that is fuel injected i know people who have chevy and ford there are pros to each i own a ford but prefer a chevy i have had a fuel pump go out several break problems and the exhault manifolds swelled and broke off the mounting bolts but these things can happen to either one

I like Chevy, better cruise control, better mileage...It may have been my Problem, but the Ford 360 got lousy mileage, and the trans had a hard shift, all my chevys the shifts are smooth. But yea manifolds like to crack

I have a 1990 southwind with a 454 chev motor. It runs great and has plenty of power. Lately it has started cutting out and then restarting. The choke light comes on and sometimes it will backfire. I have changed the distrubutor cap, plug wires, coil and the brain chip in the cap. The carburator was rebuild and the fuel pumps are working correctly. It is an intermittent problem that is driving me nuts. I can drive it 200 miles with no problem and then it starts cutting out and sometimes backfires. Is there another computer in the motor bay that I'm missing? Any ideas will be appreciated.
